I'm late to this conversation, as always. I am happy to be compared to the likes of Horizon and would rather not think about the obscure vinyl can of whup-ass that Gene would open up on me. G- if you see this note, thanks for sending people my way. I do the same for you. Would be happy to network anytime. We gotta stick together. Too many of us are dropping like flies. Thanks scenesc for supporting the indie SC stores and scene.

First, Thanks to Dstring and scenesc.com for the kind words about ole Horizon Records. This is a crazy biz and we all know what Hunter S. Thompson said (if not look it up:). Having said that, I have never been to 52.5 although i always mention it and refer people in Charleston there, just as i do to my pals at Harvest in Asheville, Lunch Box in Charlotte, Papa Jazz in Cola and Ella Guru in Atlanta. So long live indie record stores that have the owner standing in them and stock new and vintage vinyl and are passionate about music and don't give a damn what the overall industry is doing or not doing. of course we could take our obscurest vinyl and meet 52.5 out in the parking lot! I'd rather network than rumble! Anyway we got an in-store coming up with Jerry Douglas, 53 used Coltrane LPs and dozens of Zappa lps and a host of new Funk compilations, DJ vinyl Tuesday nights and....

peace out

I haven't been to 52.5, but if it could take Horizon I'll def have to check it out. I should have said it is the best record store I have ever been to. Acme Comics in Columbia is the best store to buy booklegs. I bought REM live in Germany 1986 DVD there once. What store would have that outside of Athens???
