The Future Freaks Me Out

| October 26, 2008 | 3 Comments

This is random, but just yesterday I was talking about how I wished I could access my Itunes library from anywhere and didn’t have to worry about updating my Ipod.  Well…I introduce you to “The Cloud.”

Soon you and I will have access to every song ever recorded, stored somewhere on the internet and accessible anywhere via high-speed cellular, WiFi and satellites linking to the cloud — to your music — at home, at work, on overseas flights.

Hauling around thousands of songs on a handheld device or computer hard drive just so you can listen to your favorites will soon feel overly extravagant and cumbersome, like keeping a cow so you can eat your favorite cheese.

So how far away is this?  Next year Sprint and Nokia will be testing out a similar service.  But basically as soon as our country and world become blanketed in wireless service some device will emerge and make the Ipod and downloading music a thing of the past.
