Grayson Venters-The Watershed from Scene SC on Vimeo.
Grayson Venters is 70% done recording an EP and has 70% of a tour booked in late May with Mel Washington.  I haven’t had the chance to hear the album yet, but from what I have been told the new songs kick ass.  He also did a photoshoot [...]

Ghost of FDR’s swan song

Playing in a band presents me the opportunity to hear more local and indie bands than I can even remember.  Most of them are good, some of them are really good, and some of them are absolutely horrible.  Ghost of FDR fits into none of these categories.  They are without a doubt one of the [...]

The Restoration, Daniel Machado’s 19th Century acoustic rock lovechild

However, their show Friday at New Brookland Tavern is being billed as the “big debut” performance featuring a lengthy set and [...]

Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday

Stone cold rock n’ roll.  That’s what you’ll experience Tuesday at New Brookland Tavern.  Shallow Palace and Leslie are both great live bands, and it never hurts to see touring bands coming through.  I haven’t personally experience the Brisbones or the Predecessor, but Greg Slattery (of Shallow Palace) swears they are badass and I believe [...]

Reaction to the Free Times Cover: Cutting the Arts

So as I do every Wednesday I went to El Burrito after the lunch crowd hit to enjoy two chicken tacos and read the Free Times.  I don’t think I get nearly as many press releases as they do, so they do a really good job of covering a wider array of music and arts [...]
