Currently on tour for their new album “Cheaters and Thieves,” Dignan will headline New Brookland Tavern this Sunday night accompanied by Calculator and Venice is Sinking.

The best way to describe this show would be ambient and dynamic.  Both Dignan (McAllen, TX) and Venice is Sinking (Athens,GA) play a dreamlike type of indie rock that has the ability to stand on its on with or without vocals.  You might remember Venice is Sinking from their showcase at the Free Times music crawl last year, where they won over the entire crowd that hadn’t before heard them.  They are currently out supporting their recent release “Azar,” which we have had in constant rotation since its release.

Supporting these two bands will be locals Calculator and The Bereans.  Calculator has come on the scene as some of Columbia’s indie darlings, playing a style of post punk that hasn’t been heard here since the early 2000’s.  With single coil pickups, this band takes on a college rock sound that you would imagine would be more common with Columbia and Charleston bands.  I am looking forward to seeing The Bereans as I recognize some of the band members.  They only have 11 friends on Myspace so add them next time you sign in.
