Charleston, SC/Blackbaud Stadium
Few country music singers have done as much with their fame as Zac Brown has over the years. Around the Southern Ground theme, he’s launched a record label, opened a 500 acre music camp in Fayetville, Georgia, opened a restaurant, written a cookbook, and launched Southern Ground Music and Food Festival. While on tour in 2009 he even brought a chef on tour for “Eat and Greets” before the shows with some lucky fans in each city.
It’s this marriage between music and food that fuels the Southern Ground Music Festival. Two things that have always brought people together, split between Nashville, TN and Charleston, SC. Nashville known for their music, and Charleston traditionally known for their traditional Southern food, but now known across the states as the home to a host of progressive Southern chefs.
Zac Brown and crew curated the entire feast. From the headliner to the appetizer, it was all hand picked to tickle your ears and your tongue. This year it returns to Charleston where it began last year with a loaded music lineup.
Headlining the festival will of course be the Zac Brown Band with special sit ins and performances by John Mayer and Gregg Allman. Joining them on Saturday will be The Avett Brothers, Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, and The Charlie Daniels Band. Sunday’s lineup includes many of the bands from the Southern Ground Record Label family including Sonia Leigh, Blackberry Smoke, Nic Cowan, and Levi Lowery.
