Rupert Hudson

Yes, I was named after famous british polar bear Rupert. In fact, I was named after a cat that was named after that cartoon bear. This is exactly the reason why I’d have to say an orange cat is my spirit animal. Though, it’s kind of more like this cat is my spirit goddess. My spirit animal is a bit more like a grizzly duck, which is a grizzly bear with a duck’s beak. Two reasons: 1) When I wake up I am angry and grumble a lot, like a grizzly bear but once I wake up I am (usually) friendly and I quack a lot, and 2) I own a sweater with a grizzly bear on it and one with a duck on it. I am obviously obsessed with music and everything to do with music. I have been to over 80 concerts, I am in a band called One Two Skidoo, and I also co-host a radio show of that same name on WUSC. I was born in a country called London (I would say England, but you Americans seem to be set on the fact that England is only London). I was actually born in Brighton, England, but I don’t wanna confuse you too much so we’ll say I’m from London. I then moved to a super freezing area of Canada. You’re probably thinking “but all of Canada is super freezing!”. That’s not true. Well, kind of not true. I do that school thing at the University of South Carolina, and I write about music on this website, obviously. David Stringer is my hero.

Alright, so apologies for the length of time between the actual festival and this article but it took me quite a while to gather my thoughts (and I was too lazy to put it up). SO MUCH HAPPENED AT BONNAROO, that I had to put it into two parts. One of them up today, the [...]

After a hefty meal at Carrburritos, a quaint Mexican restaurant up here, we were not feeling too up for a show full of dancing But once we got in Cat’s Cradle and mashup artists The Hood Internet took the stage, things definitely changed. I feel that Girl Talk is so popular just because he was [...]

Once, there were two boys, Rupert and Pedro, who set off on a grand adventure from Columbia, SC to Carrboro, NC to witness a live event unlike any other: Okkervil River. This band is absolutely amazing. Go and see them, you will experience no disappointment. If you haven’t heard of Okkervil River you are a very unfortunate being. They have 6 albums, the most recent I Am Very Far came out a few weeks ago and hit #32 on the Billboard, which is their highest charting [...]

So there is a place between North and South Carolina (it’s literally between both, I have no idea what state it is) where there are a bunch of shut down casinos. It’s probably one of the weirdest places I have ever been to. Pedro’s GPS took us on some random route up to Chapel Hill [...]

I’m going to warn you right now. This is probably going to be a long one. On Friday, May 5th, three of my closest friends and I started the long drive to Atlanta. We were completely unaware of the insanity that was going to transpire that night. We just thought, “oh we’re gonna go wait [...]

So I personally never really watch music videos much anymore. I feel like a lot of them are just churned out for the purpose of making a video, but this one surprised me with its awesomeness. It’s about three kids who go on an adventure into a forest and fight a monster. You interested yet? [...]

Before I begin this I’m going to let you know that I did not ask Andy Hull what his spirit animal is at this show. If you don’t want to keep reading, I don’t blame you, because I told the internet that I would find out every band’s spirit animal, and I failed you. BUT, [...]

Last year, Thom Yorke named Here We Go Magic his favorite act at Glastonbury Festival (for those who don’t know, Glastonbury Festival is probably the biggest music festival in the world, taking place in Pilton, England). I happened to be at this festival and randomly stumbled upon the Park Stage, a wonderful stage in a [...]
