I wasn’t sold on Bon Iver until I saw this video.  I always understood that he was good, but I didn’t understand why people thought he was great.  I had listened through his new release Bon Iver, Bon Iver several times and at times it just felt like a cheap 80′s soft rock album.  After I saw this, it all seemed more tasteful to me.  Justin Vernon did channel his inner Don Henley and Peter Cetera on his new album and for that I am grateful.

My friend Kevin is currently working in London and had the chance to see Ryan Adams perform at The Barbican Centre on June 20, 2011.  The setlist was so impressive that I had to post it.  It’s pretty much a dream set for any Ryan Adams fan.

Sounds like they are going to play some tour dates before they hit the studio, so it’s only a matter of time before live versions the new songs spread all over the internet.

Thank God for John Nolan though.  I’m not sure I could take another album like the last one.  I need some more 30′s emo in my life.  Songs about divorce, being pissed that your babies are crying all night and how middle aged life is in a $300,000 dollar house in the Charlotte burbs.  Yeah, I’m lookin’ at you Lazzara.   Color me excited.

With Lost nearing an end, I can’t wait to have Friday Night Lights back on TV and couldn’t be more excited about the Season 4 premiere Friday night.  FNL has never gotten the credit or ratings it deserves, but stays alive with a fairly hardcore following.

That being said, Riggins was a senior for like 3 years and Landry looks like the kicker in Season 4.  They make stuff up like a soap opera, but the show is still awesome.

Andddd I just learned that this entire season has already aired on Direct-TV and is now coming to NBC.  I will proceed to go to a torrent site and download Season 4.  See y’all in 14 hours.

Valley Maker-First

This Scene SC acoustic session has already hit the social network sites, but I wanted to tell you a little bit about what you are listening to and Austin Crane’s new project, Valley Maker.  Valley Maker is a project by Austin Crane that was birthed out of his senior thesis on the narratives of Genesis.  Two of the songs are up for free download and the song in the video above titled “Names” will be released May 21st at the CD release at The Nickelodeon Theatre in Columbia.  There will also be a Charleston release party May 23.  I’ll have more about those soon.

On many of the Valley Maker songs Austin is joined by Amy Godwin, who takes the songs to another level of perfect.  Hagar and Ishmael is one of my favorite Austin Crane songs of all time and a lot of that has to do with Amy Godwin’s perfect harmonies.

10. Jock Jams- The All Star Jock Jams
-Any album featuring both “Whoomp There it Is” and “Who Let the Dogs Out” is a game changer, in my opinion
9. WWF-Anthology
-Gret retrospective. A “must” for anybody who calls themself a fan. This runs the gamut of WWF intros, from the loveable Bushwhackers to the depraved D-Generation X
8. Kobe Bryant- K.O.B.E.
-Gotta give some love for my boy. This gem is hard to find, but I got connections.
7. J.C. Chasez- Schizophrenic
-Not only a better dancer, but a better singer than Justin Timberlake. The fact that he isn’t the current King of Pop is nothing short of criminal!
6. Alien Ant Farm- ANThology
-Great punk/rock band. Wrote some really catchy songs. Michael Jackson even covered one of them.
5. The Cheetah Girls- One Love Soundtrack
Great pop, with a great message
4. MercyMe- 10
-If there is anything I love more than basketball it’s sports goggles. If there is anything I love more than sports goggles, it’s Jesus Christ. “I Can Only Imagine” is such a powerful call to worship. Makes me sweat whenever I hear it.
3. Aaron Carter- Aaron’s Party (Come and Get It)
-This album features the song “That’s How I Beat Shaq” and when I coached Shaq on the Lakers, I once beat him in HORSE. I also once beat him when I played for the Charlotte Hornets and he the Orlando Magic. I held him to 34 points.
2. Kenny G- Rhythm and Romance
-Yeah, I played in the NBA, so I slay lots on tang. What do you think puts them women in the mood? My good friend, Kenny G.
1. Arcade Fire- Funeral
-Top to bottom, best album of decade. Neon Bible was a real bummer of a follow-up.
