We tweeted last week when we heard that Toro Y Moi was finally playing a home town show at New Brookland Tavern in June with Caribou, because we are super excited about that show. I think the entire town is excited. Since Toro Y Moi started blowing up, he hasn’t had a formal show here to let fans show their appreciation, although Chaz knows he is very much appreciated here. That show is June 11th and I’m sure it will easily sell out.
The real big news is the upcoming tours Toro has scheduled. After the tour with Caribou takes Chaz and his newly formed band through the South and Mexico, he will head to Europe with Washed Out. Washed Out’s Ernest Greene also has the ties to Columbia and Georgia has been equally on the rise with Toro Y Moi. After those dates, Toro Y Moi will take a brief break, then head out on some dates with Phoenix this August.
It’s been an exciting adventure watching Toro Y Moi clime the musical ladder and it doesn’t seem like he’ll be stopping any time soon. Just how high can he go?
I’ve only given you a brief summary. For the real inside scoop check out Pat Wall’s story at the Free Times. He’s done an amazing job covering Toro and all of Chaz’s projects over the years.
