Historically Mat Cothran and Tyler T. Williams have made a great team. This is William’s third time working with Cothran’s music, both videos before were with his main project Coma Cinema, but it’s been years since the two have paired up. They work really well together. Williams’ videos are well thought out and beautifully shot, while Cothran’s recordings are often stark meaningful short bursts of art.
“No Way Out” is off Cothran’s recent release Failure under his full name and was his third release of 2013 including Holo Pleasures from Elvis Depressedley and Posthumous Release via Coma Cinema. In this repetitious blog age we live in it’s sometimes tough for music to rise above without the backdoor connections of the PR world, but Cothran’s music has circumvented the bought and paid for connections. Good music finds a way of being heard, and here it’s through a music video. A video that’s been viewed over 21,000 times on Vimeo (way better for videos, but not always so great for traffic) and was awarded a staff pick accolade. Â A nice accomplishment for everyone involved.Â
