Columbia, SC band Barnwell celebrated the release of their new album Lose Your Teeth last Friday night at New Brookland Tavern with support from Rare Creatures and Tom Angst. Barnwell’s set was full surprises, featuring Mike Mewborne of The Lovely Few on keys and a setlist loaded with songs from the bands latest release. Included in the set were several surprise covers, one of Rejectioneers song “Get So Mad” and Dempsey’s “In Retrospect”. Rare Creatures also released their debut full length album recently. Their set last Friday was especially good, tighter overall and with more energy than in the past. They were fueled this time around by the crowd who were invested in their set. Tom Angst opened the show with a set that included some new songs, one of which particularly stood above the rest. They mentioned there’s a new release in the works, which they’re writing for.
